This Privacy Policy is published in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 (“DPDP Rules”) , enacted by the Government of India. It governs how Jerusalem Wallah collects, uses, stores, and processes your personal data when you visit jerusalemwallah.com or subscribe to our newsletter.

Please read this policy carefully. By using this website or submitting your personal data to us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

1. Identity of the Data Fiduciary

Under the DPDP Act, the entity that determines the purpose and means of processing your personal data is referred to as the Data Fiduciary. For the purposes of this policy, the Data Fiduciary is:

You, as the individual whose personal data is being processed, are referred to as the Data Principal under the DPDP Act.

2. Personal Data We Collect and Why

In accordance with Section 5 of the DPDP Act, we collect only the personal data that is necessary for the specified purpose for which it is collected. We do not collect personal data beyond what is required.

Email address:collected when you subscribe to the Wallah Dispatch newsletter or submit our contact form. Purpose: to send you the newsletter you have consented to receive, or to respond to your enquiry.

Message content and name:collected when you submit a contact form. Purpose: to respond to your message.

Browser local storage data:we store your display theme preference and Reader's Poll votes and other necessary cookies.

Technical data:standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. This is used solely in aggregate to understand site performance and is not used to identify individuals.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (Consent)

Under Section 6 of the DPDP Act, we process your personal data only on the basis of your free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous consent. You provide this consent when you:

(a) enter your email address and submit the newsletter subscription form;
(b) submit a contact form with your details.
(c) vote in the Reader's Poll or participate in any other interactive feature that requires your personal data.

Each consent request identifies the specific purpose for which your data will be used. We do not bundle unrelated consents. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see Section 7 below). Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

4. Purpose Limitation

Your personal data will be used only for the purpose for which it was collected and communicated to you at the time of collection. We will not use your email address for any purpose other than sending you the newsletter or responding to your enquiry, without first obtaining fresh consent from you for that new purpose, as required under Section 8(3) of the DPDP Act.

5. Data Retention and Erasure

In accordance with Section 8(7) of the DPDP Act, we will not retain your personal data beyond the period necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Newsletter subscribers:your email address is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. Once you unsubscribe, your email address will be erased from our active mailing list within 30 days.

Contact form submissions:retained for up to 90 days after the matter is resolved, then permanently deleted.

Web server logs:retained for a maximum of 90 days and then automatically deleted.

Once the purpose for which personal data was collected is fulfilled and no legal obligation requires its retention, we will erase or anonymise the data.

6. Data Accuracy

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal data we hold is accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date, consistent with our obligations under Section 8(5) of the DPDP Act. If you believe any personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, please contact us (see Section 10 below).

7. Withdrawal of Consent

You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, as provided under Section 6(4) of the DPDP Act. The process of withdrawing consent must be as simple as the process of giving consent.

To withdraw your consent for newsletter communications, click the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email we send you. To withdraw consent for any other processing, contact our Grievance Officer at the details in Section 11 below. We will process your withdrawal request within 30 days.

8. Children's Personal Data

In accordance with Section 9 of the DPDP Act, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 18 yearswithout verifiable consent from their parent or lawful guardian. Our newsletter and contact services are intended for adults. If you are under 18, please do not submit your personal data to us without your parent or guardian's consent. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, we will erase it promptly.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational security safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, as required under Section 8(5) of the DPDP Act. These include HTTPS encryption, access controls on administrative systems, and authentication requirements. In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to affect you, we will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected Data Principals as required by law.

10. Cross-Border Data Transfers

We use a third-party email service provider to deliver newsletters. Your email address may be transferred to and processed by this provider, which may operate servers outside India. Such transfers are made only to countries or entities as may be notified by the Central Government under Section 16 of the DPDP Act. We will update this policy if the applicable list of permitted countries changes in a way that affects our processing.

11. Your Rights as a Data Principal

The DPDP Act grants you the following rights, which you may exercise at any time by contacting our Grievance Officer (details below):

Right to Access Information (Section 11):You have the right to obtain confirmation of whether we are processing your personal data, a summary of the personal data we hold, and the identities of any other Data Fiduciaries or processors with whom your data has been shared.

Right to Correction and Erasure (Section 12):You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or outdated personal data and to request erasure of personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose it was collected, or where you have withdrawn consent.

Right to Grievance Redressal (Section 13):You have the right to register a grievance with our Grievance Officer and receive a response within 90 days. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.

Right to Nominate (Section 14):You may nominate another individual to exercise your rights under Sections 11–13 on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

We will not charge a fee for the first annual access request. We aim to respond to all Data Principal rights requests within 30 days (extendable to 60 days where necessary).

13. Third-Party Services

Our site embeds YouTube videos served by Google LLC. When you interact with an embedded video, YouTube may collect data under its own privacy policy. We have no control over Google's data practices. We are not the Data Fiduciary for data collected by Google through YouTube embeds.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, our practices, or our services. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, we will seek fresh consent where required by the DPDP Act. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
